Thanks and Update
Jean and I would like to thank everyone who helped make our recent book signing tour such a success. We thoroughly enjoyed all the wonderful conversations and reconnecting with so many of you! I have to admit I'm still surprised by the initial reception and growing readership of Moon and Sunn. When you set out to write there are many days when you think, I'm not only wasting my time, I've absolutely lost my mind. So your affirmation has served to confirm that Jean doesn't need to check me into the local psych ward--at least for now.
Some of you may be unaware that our yellow lab, Archie, was attacked by an alligator in the Mississippi delta while I was doing research for a potential novel. Jean walked Archie around on his leash while I took pictures on my cellphone. When I unbuckled the leash to load Archie back in the truck, he bolted for the Yazoo River for a cooling swim. Thirty seconds later he was in the jaws of a giant alligator. How does that even happen? What are the chances of your dog being attacked by a gator during a ten minute stop? Is this a good or bad omen? Should I can the novel idea?
Jean googled "emergency animal hospital near me". We drove 80 to 90mph for twenty minutes to the Greenwood Animal Hospital, flashers engaged. Archie spent four days under the excellent care of Dr. Gayla Conner. We picked him up Tuesday afternoon and started our long drive back to Denver. Archie is slowly recuperating at home. If you believe in praying for dogs, and why shouldn't you, remember to pray for Archie.
